Capp, Alexander Chasing 30

Hannibal, MO – Last season Jobi Hambrick pushed for 30 wins and finished with a school record 27. This season the Trojans have two wrestlers trying to accomplish the same feat that Hambirck chased.

Currently, Dan Capp owns a record of 21-7 while teammate Bryce Alexander holds a record of 18-8. Both would finish around the 30 win mark by only taking two wins at each of the next five tournaments, including the Central Regional Tournament. By that standard, Capp would finish with 31 wins and Alexander would end the season with 28.

“Alexander and Capp both have a good chance of beating our individual season win record of 27 wins set by Jobi Hambrick last season,” said Head Coach Scott Hawes. “Both wrestlers will need to stay focused on working hard and getting better every day in practice. The 27 wins didn’t come easy for Hambrick and they won’t come easy for Alexander and Capp either. The four tournaments we have left on our regular season schedule will be some of the tougher tournaments we will be attending this year. I believe both have the potential of winning 30 matches before the end of the season.”

The Trojans’ next four regular season tournaments will be at the Central College Invite, Missouri Valley College Invite, Grandview Open, and the Missouri Valley College Open. Wins at the Central Regional Tournament will also be counted toward the regular season win total, although the tournament itself is considered to be in the postseason.
