Last weekend was a tough day of wrestling as Hannibal-LaGrange competed at the Missouri Valley College Invitational Wrestling Tournament. Four out of the top ten teams in the NAIA were present including number one ranked Grandview College. Grandview, William Penn and Morningside were all at the Central College Invite the weekend before. Alexander, Downs and Capp all placed in each of the last two tournaments.
165 lb Sophomore Bryce Alexander (23-11)won the Central College Invite two weeks ago and placed third at the MO Valley Invite this week. In the same tournament after Capp and Anthofer match, Anthofer beat Soderblom(ranked 10) from William Penn 11-3. During a winnable match at the Mo Valley Invite Capp lost his first match of the day to Pontikes from OCU. Pontikes is ranked 8th in the NAIA and Capp lost the match by a score of 3-2. Capp then won three straight matches with a win in the consolation final over Alba from Mckendree. Alba beat Pontikes who Capp had lost to in his first match.
